The Challenge to Change Programme operates within the prison establishment to provide
a community based offending behaviour programme.
The Kainos Community, which took over an existing programme in July 1999 is a registered
charitable trust.
National Structure
Tricia Rogers, the Trusts Chief Executive is responsible for ensuring governance
of the programme content, compliance with the requirements of the prison service
board and controls all staff and fundraising activities.
Mike Philips is the Operations Director with responsibility for ensuring that uniformity
of content of the programmes is upheld throughout the establishments.
Local Structure
Each programme is managed by a programme manager supported by an assistant manager
and a support worker. Programme staff work closely with prison staff to ensure full
integration with the prison regime and to facilitate delivery of the programme to
the quality-assurance standards set out under PSO 4350. Kainos is a Christian organisation
and we uphold Christian principles while ensuring we meet the Prison Service policy
to provide fair and proper provision for all faith traditions, we work very closely
with the Prison Service Chaplaincy to welcome participants from all faiths and none.
The Challenge to Change Programme is suitable for sentenced prisoners who:
have behavioural / emotional problems related to offending.
show some motivation to want to address their problems.
need to develop insight into their behaviour and emotions.
