HMP Stocken
Built in 1985 as a young offender institution, HMP Stocken opened as a Category C closed training prison. It has since expanded with new wings added in 1990, 1997, 1998 and a MTU opened in April 2003.
Reception Criteria:
HMP Stocken is a category C prison. It accepts all suitable prisoners as described in the allocation criteria.
The Challenge to Change Programme began here in September 2006.
The ‘Challenge to Change’ Programme is situated on E Wing which houses 66 men. These men participate in the programme on a full time basis five days a week for 6 months. As a ‘C’ category prison many of these men are a few years from release.
